My Journey
Creating art in all mediums and in all styles has been an integral part of who I am…..it is a good friend in times of joy and sorrow.
My degree in Art Education (K-12) exposed me to many techniques and skills which I have expanded subsequently. From pastels, encaustics, decorative painting to Renaissance Realism and now Abstract Expressionism, my joy and passion remains strong.
I delight in experimenting and learning. The new materials offered today present many opportunities to express oneself with fluidity and find a personal interpretation of the visual and imagined world.
My joy in creating has now become more vibrant, visceral, experimental, intuitive, lyrical and bold. Perhaps reflecting the current world and my personal development as well.
I like to have different names associated with different styles and different periods of my life. You would find my artworks under the name of Nancy Jagodzinski, Zinska, Nancy Sylvester, Nancy Hunt.
My Training &
Influences
I was born in Pennsylvania. Currently, I reside in Upstate NY and South Florida.
Before I went to college, I studied drawing and painting with Andrew Sanders (listed in Who’s Who in American Art and the Dictionary of International Art Biography, Cambridge, England through the 1970’s). I obtained Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education (K-12) from Gannon University with a Minor in Art History.
I have studied and worked in various styles and techniques with many accomplished artists. In 1989, I earned the title of a Certified Decorative Painter from the Society of Decorative Painters and have had several articles published in their national magazine.
I had the privilege to study and acquire techniques of Realism under the guidance of Gunter Korus, a master painter. He remained my teacher and a dear friend.
I have received numerous awards from Art Centers in Florida and New York. I have also exhibited and been featured in a number of galleries. My works are in local and international collections.
